How to Boot Windows XP Faster
To boot Windows XP faster:
- Open the Notepad and type del c:\windows\prefetch\ntosboot-*.* /q
- Save it as ntosboot.bat in the drive where windows has installed in most cases C:\
- Open Run Dialog Box by pressing Winkey+R or Going to Start→Run type gpedit.msc
- Expand Computer Configuration and Double Click on Windows Settings and then in the Right pane double click on Scripts(Startup/Shutdown)
- Double click on Shutdown and Select Add then browse the file you just saved and locate it.
- Then Click Ok and Apply the Changes.
- Open the Run Dialog Box again and type in devmgmt.msc and Expand IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers.
- Right Click on Primary IDE Channel.
- Select Properties Go to Advanced Settings Tab and in the Device Type Select "None" which isnt Disabled or Greyed.
- Click Ok and Repeat the step 9 for every Primary IDE Channel and Secondary IDE channel.
- Then Restart the Computer and See how fast windows boots...
